It’s been a long day of sightseeing in the Twin Cities: maybe you hit the Mall of America with your girlfriends for some retail therapy or took the kids to the Minnesota Zoo. Now you just want to unwind. Inver Grove Heights offers some great ways to relax whether you’re looking for family-friendly activities or a low-key night out with friends.
1: Knock down some pins at Drkula’s 32 Bowl
Bowling is fun activity for the whole family, especially when there are automatic bumpers for the little ones! Drkula’s Bowl also offers a full-service restaurant, pool tables, darts, and more.
Drkula’s Bowl is open from 9:00am to midnight Sunday and Monday through Thursday, with a 1:00am closing time Friday and Saturday.
2: Splash around at The Grove Aquatic & Fitness Center
Kids will love the indoor water park at The Grove Aquatic & Fitness Center. There’s a large playground-style structure with two small water slides, plus spray toys and a water table. Try not to fall in while you scramble across the floating logs and have fun zooming down the two large water slides.
Check The Grove Aquatic & Fitness Center website for the most up-to-date water park hours.
3: Walk to the end of the Rock Island Swing Bridge
The Rock Island Swing Bridge is a unique way to get up close and personal with the Mississippi River. Originally built as a swing bridge for rail and road traffic, it was closed to traffic in 1999. A portion of the bridge has been repurposed as a walking pier, allowing visitors to enjoy river views.
Swing Bridge Park is open daily from 6:00am to 10:00pm.
4: Get in a quick game at Inver Wood’s executive course
Don’t have time for a full 18 holes? The scenic executive course at Inver Wood Golf Course is a more manageable nine holes. Another fun option is FootGolf: instead of using a club and golf ball, players kick a soccer ball from the starting tee to the hole in fewest number of kicks.
Check Inver Wood’s website for available tee times for the executive course. FootGolf is available from noon until 5:00pm Monday through Thursday, and noon until close Friday through Sunday.
5: Catch a movie at AMC Inver Grove 16
Watch the latest blockbuster in style at AMC Inver Grove 16—theaters feature recliners and reserved seating, and MacGuffins Bar serves alcoholic beverages. While you can never go wrong with a tub of buttered popcorn, the theater also has gourmet food options like flatbread pizzas.
Movie showtimes are listed on AMC Inver Grove 16’s website.
6: Grab a treat at Peterson Popcorn & Ice Cream
Finish your day on a sweet note at Peterson Popcorn & Ice Cream with homemade caramel corn, fudge, or an ice cream cone. If you’re looking for something savory, try the cheddar corn!
Peterson Popcorn & Ice Cream is open from noon to 9:00pm on Monday, 11:00am to 9:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 8:00pm on Sunday.
