Many of us are spending this summer closer to home, so it’s a great opportunity to check out what your local community has to offer!  In Inver Grove Heights, there are plenty of fun and safe socially-distanced activities.  Whether you’re trying to entertain the kids or you need a fun date night, whether you want to get outside or you’d rather treat yourself to takeout, here’s how to enjoy your staycation in Inver Grove Heights.

Getting outside is a great way for parents to relax and for kids to burn off some energy, and Inver Grove Heights parks and trails are open!  The Parks and Recreation department has created a virtual Recreate Remotely program with family-friendly workout videos, outdoor activity ideas, contests, and more. Playgrounds, tennis courts, and pickleball courts are starting to re-open too, with reminders to maintain social distancing practices.

For some indoor fun, check out the Dakota County Library’s virtual programs.  Family-friendly options include live virtual storytimes, naturalist programs, and concerts.  In addition, books and other library materials are available via curbside pick-up. Veteran’s Memorial Community Center expects to open next month in limited capacity as well. More information here.

Get out of the house with your significant other and share a special moment at Swing Bridge Park.  The park offers stunning views of the Mississippi River from a walking pier that extends 680 feet over the river.  If you’d like to take a walk or bike ride, the park is also a trailhead for the Mississippi River Regional Trail.
